“Let every day be a detox.”- Salienna Herer

Most people think of detox diets as buying an expensive product or regimen. However, they fail to realize that the body has its detoxification system or self-removal of toxins. These include the liver, kidney, and skin.

Toxins are harmful substances that can accumulate in the body and negatively affect multiple organ systems, such as the neurological system. It can cause poor memory recognition and concentration. Moreover, it can also cause headaches, mood swings, and worst, mental decline.

According to a study, toxins like lead and bisphenol A can alter the regulation of the hormone dopamine, which is responsible for emotional responses. This disorder can lead to the development of ADHD in children.

Detox doesn’t have to be expensive. Instead, it’s a lifestyle choice when done right can make an impact in biological function and overall health of the body.

How to detox the body

  1. Sleep adequately. By sleeping the recommended number of hours, the brain can heal and remove toxins that have accumulated in the body.
  2. Drink water. Water is a useful tool for detoxifying the body by helping remove and transport the waste products whether by the urinary system or through the skin as well.
