Obesity is one of the most common diseases in the U.S. A study in 2016 from the National Center for Health Statistics found that39.6% of U.S. adults ages 20 and above are obese. This epidemic can be due to the lifestyle that includes fast foods and sedentary activity. 

Organic foods don’t contain pesticides or synthetic fertilizers. These are non-genetically modified organisms and follow natural methods of agriculture. Omission of antibiotics or hormones for animal products is also considered to be organic.

A study from the International Journal of Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine found that 54.6% of overweight participants succeeding in their weight loss by converting to a non-GMO/ organic diet.

Organic foods that can help you lose weight:

  1. Organic eggs- free-range eggs that contain no antibiotics or growth hormones. Eggs contain lesser calories than bread or pasta. Moreover, it also contains omega-3-fatty acids which decreases risk for cardiovascular diseases and Alzheimer’s as well.
  2. Green Tea-Green tea increases the metabolism of individuals allowing for a faster burn of calories.  
  3. Organic Apples- apples are rich in fiber and contain little calories at the same time. Fiber is a component which is hard to digest by the body, thus allowing the individual to excrete it without getting fat. It also prevents metabolic syndrome, which decreases the metabolism of the body. 
  4. Berries-Berries are rich in antioxidants and fiber, which make them the perfect snack for losing weight.
  5. Yogurt-Yogurt is composed of healthy bacteria for the gut, allowing easier digestion for the consumer.
