Why Every Adult Needs Hobbies, Personal Time and Fun

Hobbies can provide the ability to unwind and disconnect

Choose your hobby to match your age and lifestyle

How many hobbies did you have before starting to work? And how many hobbies did you have left after getting a job? As adults, sometimes responsibilities press on us too much that we forget how to take it easy on ourselves. Then life weighs heavier on us, such that we seem to grow older even faster. Try not to go down that road. Set aside some personal time, and create opportunities for you to play and have fun.
Never too old to play

If there is something we can learn from children, it is that pure vitality and focus with which they carry out everything. They do get this from playing – which is more about the process of being in the moment and having fun rather than getting results. They fall and make mistakes with such resilience, then get up again. As an adult, sometimes you have to reframe your mind that life is not always a one-way race that you have to win. Maybe, life is more about the joy of running and seeing the smiles of those running (or failing to run) with you.

Hobbies and personal time
If you are not into running or active sports, there are plenty of activities you can do. These range from the expressive (such as playing a musical instrument) to the precise (such as assembling miniature scale models). Just explore and have fun! Dedicate more personal time on the hobbies that make you feel good and give you a sense of fulfillment.

If you are still concerned about missing out on “productive” time, take comfort in studies which show that play encourages creativity. Even Albert Einstein himself said, “Play is the highest form of research.”
