Identity $$ Protection – Protect Taxes

Don’t let fraudsters submit your taxes for you

Get an IP Pin annually from the IRS at irs.gov to protect your tax submissions from fraud.

A scary example of identity theft is a scammer filing “your” taxes for you! Unfortunately, they collect the “refund.” So, file your taxes as early as possible. Get organized early and submit your return as soon as you receive your statements: 1098s, 1099s, W2s, Social Security, interest, dividends, etc.

If you are a resident of Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas or Washington, you can avoid the concern of tax fraud completely by getting a login ID/password and an IP Pin from the IRS website www.irs.gov (takes 10 minutes online). Once received, the IP Pin, a six (6) digit number, must be entered into your tax return for it to be accepted, preventing a scammer from submitting it for you. Once you have registered, the IRS will send you a new IP Pin annually to include with your income tax forms.
