Injuries have a profound effect on your ability to play.

Most people don’t know that an injury involves multiple muscles and sometimes multiple body parts.

Think about your most recent injury. Does that same injury keep happening? Do you get injured near that injury? Glenn asks these questions to get a baseline of a player’s physical health. If the injury is chronic, he needs to identify and understand the root cause of those injuries.

For many players the extent of the injury and what the connecting factors are may be unclear. It’s little like dominoes. One can tip the other, and if you’re not aware of the dominoes involved, the player might be focused on the wrong domino. A simple imbalance in their physical makeup is likely causing chronic injuries.

Here at the Sports Science Index, we will help you to get a muscular imbalance assessment that will help you identify any and all flaws so that you can design a program to correct those flaws, which would help in limiting injuries from muscular imbalances. And also by doing this, it would also reduce the risk of you getting hurt from non-contact injuries.

To improve your score on this factor, here are some key steps you can take to make progress in this area:

  1. Create a detailed list of all previous and current injuries.
  2. Consult with your personal trainer, team trainers and your physician on the root cause of the problem.
  3. Come back here to look up and study information on the kinetic chain and how it relates to your injuries and physical state.
  4. Consult with your trainers, team physician and Registered Dietitian on making the proper adjustments to your training regimen and dietary and supplement intake.
