Mind Training to Achieve Wellbeing

The meaning of life is whatever you ascribe it to be. Being alive is the meaning.

“The meaning of life is whatever you ascribe it to be. Being alive is the meaning.”-Joseph Campbell

In this world, some people seem to be more resilient than others. The director of the Center for Healthy Minds affirm that the mind can be trained to improve both physical and mental health.

Visualization is a technique involving the formation of mental images to achieve a specific goal. According to a study in 2015, integrating visualizations to patient care was able to improve the success rate and allow the healthcare providers to engage with the patients more easier. Thus, creating visualizations is vital to increasing consumer involvement within the shared decision-making process of care.

How to perform Visualization:

1. Mental practice- the practice of an individual physical or mental skill repeatedly.

2. Mental Rehearsal- the practice of an entire performance or play and how you want it to pan out.

3. Instant Pre-play- executing the skill in the mind. It allows an increase in both motivation and concentration of the individual.

4. Instant Replay- thinking back at the skill you recently executed and analyzing it. This method allows reinforcement of the feeling of the action committed.

5.Self Scouting- replaying the entire performance after its finished. This method allows analyzing of positives and negatives of the return to help make it more successful the next time.
