Network Security – Wi-Fi Guest Users

Visitors, family and friends all want to use your Wi-Fi

Set up a guest network in your home Wi-Fi router if visitors request access.

If you or your family welcome visitors requesting Internet access and you share your Wi-Fi network (SSID) password to accommodate them frequently, set up a guest network on your router. A guest Wi-Fi network is essentially a separate network on your router for these visitors. It has its own password and avoids sharing the password of your home network.

Note, routers aren’t forever. If yours is at end-of-life (e.g. no more firmware updates from the manufacturer) – buy a new one.
