The capacity to learn is a gift; the ability to learn is a skill, and the willingness to learn is a choice.

Intellectual growth should commence at birth and cease only at death.”-Albert Einstein

Most of the people stop trying to learn after they get a job. People think that their responsibility to education ends when they get their diplomas and find stable income. However, this mentality has led to a sedentary society always having to rely on the new generation for further societal or technological improvements.

Lifelong learning refers to the act of continuance of education throughout an individual’s life. It is vital for keeping the mind active and curious about its surroundings. It can also allow the individual to stay committed to its growth and avoid becoming sedentary or worst start degenerating.

According to a study in 2012, lifelong learning can help the individual cope with the fast-changing world, get better job opportunities, and claim an enriching and full-filling life.

Benefits of committing to lifelong learning:
• It can create better job opportunities. People who continuously learn and acquire new skills get chosen over those who have less.
• It can keep the mind and brain active. Learning new things makes the brain work and prevents brain cells from dying as we age.
• It can keep the individual connected in the industry. The saying “old dogs can’t learn new tricks” is true for those who decided to stop learning and stick to the knowledge they currently have. By engaging in continuous new information, the old and new generation can create improvements in the experience we have today.
