Some Facts Around Eating Disorders

Make peace with the mirror and watch your reflection change.

“Eating disorders are serious mental health illnesses, not lifestyle choices.”- Demi Lovato

Eating disorders are mental disorders that pertain to eating habits that negatively affect not just the health of the human body but the emotional condition of the individual involved as well. The most common eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating disorder.

A study published through PubMed showed that 13% of the youth in the USA might experience at least one disorder by the age of 20. This disorder is shaped by society through various outlets such as social media and entertainment wherein the primary victims are usually adolescents.

Fortunately, eating disorders are treatable with proper medical care. This process involves rejustifying the correct eating pattern for the individual concerned.

Top 3 Eating Disorders:

  3. Binge Eating Disorder-the condition of overeating food or binging more than what the individual initially intends to. This disorder involves a lack of control over the individuals eating.
