Give Freely of Yourself

When was the last time you received an act of pure kindness?

There is more to being kind and charitable than is apparent to most people

We live, unfortunately, in a world where many people think of themselves first and others later, if at all.

A selfless random act of kindness is an unconditional giving of some type of gift – a verbal- or service-based act – that helps to elevate another Soul, done spontaneously without any planning, and done with care and love for another. By “selfless,” I mean you remove the Self from the equation – you are not doing it to gain something for yourself in return. It is done from your Soul, your inner Wisdom, or your heart of hearts, and not from ego for some specific reason. It also means that regardless of whether the other individual even knows about it, all that matters is that you know about it.

Caregivers who are caught up in the day-to-day events of doing what they do may not realize the power of their own selfless acts.

While statistics cannot capture the impact of all that a caregiver does, they are illuminating. The National Alliance for Caregiving and the AARP estimate that 29 percent of the U.S. population are providing care services for ill, disabled or aging loved ones.
