Where does my money go every month?

Frequently monitor financial accounts and set up automatic alerts.

Do Frequent Monitoring – Consider using the Quicken® application daily to monitor all your accounts. Quicken operates on multiple platforms (Windows, Mac, Web, etc.) and offers a convenient, secure and quick solution for account monitoring and transactions.

  • Mint.com is worth a look as well.
  • Check out using one of your financial institution’s websites to organize and collect your accounts.
  • Dedicate a single device to all financial activities to minimize risk.

Set up account alerts for each of your credit and debit cards. For example, American Express offers a slew of alerts, either email or text. They include alerts for irregular activity, foreign transactions, card not present, large purchase and cash withdrawal. If you install your financial companies’ apps, push notifications can be received and this is generally more secure than texts via SMS.
