Malware hides in your memory

Shutdown your Windows PC or Mac weekly to remove any lingering malware in computer memory.

Shutdown your PC weekly after closing out active programs, such as your email application, MS Word, etc. The shutdown process closes out the remainder of any running applications, like those running in the background (in the cache). These may be adjuncts to your applications, but also could be troublesome malware. Ergo, a weekly shutdown is a cleansing action on both a PC or a Mac.

Note, if you are running Windows 10 on your PC, it comes with a “fast startup” feature, which keeps some operations from shutting down fully. You should either permanently disable this feature or simply hold down the Shift key when Shutdown is selected to ensure a complete memory “cleansing.”
