Are Regular Check-ups Important?

Life has no limitations except for the one you make.

“Act as a master of your life by putting your health, well being and happiness first.”

In the US, although annual check-ups are part of the health care system, not everybody avails it. Multiple factors such as lack of time or lack of awareness and fund allocation against the risks of opting out of the annual check-up. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, they recommend to stop routine check-ups. Instead, to understand and adjust how often an individual should get one depending on his circumstances.

Check-ups are vital because they can help identify problems with health early onset. This method increases the chances of recovery and treatment for the individual. Several factors, such as age, health, race, and lifestyle, affect how often you need healthcare.

According to a study in 2018, the regular check-up behavior is beneficial for the individual’s health and well being.

Benefits of doing regular check-ups:

  • to find out current or emerging medical conditions
  • to check for future medical risks against health either due to genetics or lifestyle choices
  • to update vaccinations for security of the immune system
  • to promote a healthy lifestyle and behavior
  • to use as primary prevention against chronic diseases
  • to update clinical data for future usage
