The debate to whether spas are a need or just a luxury continues to this day. In a busy world, some people channel their stress in a type of sport or hobby while others find it hard to channel their stress differently. This condition causes a buildup of stress which long term can lead to chronic stress which leads to a variety of physical and mental health issues, including cardiovascular diseases, depression, and obesity.
Spa is the act of creating body treatments like massages and facials, which aim to help relax and relieve stress. Studies show that massages have a quality of life and longevity as well.
According to a study in 2004, massage can decrease stress, cortisol, and pain while it can increase immune function, serotonin, and dopamine. Exessive cortisol production can cause a variety of health issues such as stress, high blood pressure, weight gain, and osteoporosis. Serotonin and dopamine regulates mood and bodily functions. An increase in both hormones prevents depression.
